Building Recovery-Ready Communities
Young People in Recovery (YPR) advocates for recovery-ready communities. YPR envisions a world where everyone can access the necessary resources to recover from substance use disorder. YPR’s mission is to provide the life skills and peer supports to help people recover from substance use disorder and reach their full potential.
What does “recovery-ready” mean?
A community that is recovery-ready provides the entire continuum of support to those in or seeking recovery, in addition to their allies. Our YPR - Monterey, CA Chapter offers All-Recovery Meetings, prosocial events, and workshops.
YPR provides areas of support in many areas, including: prevention, treatment, harm reduction, judicial & law enforcement engagement, housing, education, employment, and recovery support.
I’ve never heard of YPR or Young People in Recovery.
Do you have to be a young person to participate?
YPR is new-ish to the Monterey area. Young People in Recovery was established in 2010. Our Monterey Chapter launched late last year. YPR is a national recovery support service organization made up of over 63 chapters focused on peer-to-peer services for those seeking recovery of any age. Our corporate office is located in Colorado.
ALL-RECOVERY MEETINGS
An All-Recovery Meeting (ARM) is a meeting where any person in recovery, in addition to allies of those in recovery, can attend and find support. This is a space where everyone, no matter what pathway, can come and lean on one another for support, empowerment, and compassion.
PRO-SOCIAL EVENTS
From bowling, disc golf, beach volleyball, walks, games, dancing, learning a language, sewing, gardening, watching movies together, or hanging out at the beach, you name it! Pro-social events are designed as spaces that showcase we can and do have fun in recovery! Add in some volunteer time at the animal shelter or your local community and give back!
WORKSHOPS
YPR chapters host workshops to educate and empower the recovery community. From education, employment, financial empowerment, housing, to recovery messaging, sign-up for a recovery workshop today!
